Dieu

Dieu and her sisters had a normal and happy family life until tragedy struck. When she was six years old, both of her parents died in a traffic accident. After living with their grandmother for a month, Dieu and one of her sisters were sent to the Social Welfare Center. Her oldest sister stayed at home to take care of their grandmother.

Dieu expresses gratitude for the nurturing care of the Center and for being given the opportunity to go to school as other children. “I always tried my best to study hard and learn as much as possible in the hope of overcoming my difficult situation and changing my destiny.” Indeed, her excellent college entrance exam scores enabled her to fulfill her dream of being accepted to Law school. Dieu is now in her first year of studies, but she needs help with her daily living expenses.

“My study hasn’t been too difficult. It is OK. Now, I live in a dorm at Da Lat City. Thanks to part-time jobs at a buffet restaurant and support of New Day it is still possible to afford its student life. In addition to studying and working part-time, I also participate in extracurricular programs at my university. It helped me to find more fun in student life. Every day after school, I interacted with some friends, learning something useful from them. We help each other in student life, confide and share the joys and sorrows. I feel adapted to the life and environment here. I will do my best.” – April, 2020
