A team from United Foundation for China’s Health visited the Savannah Project over the weekend. They spent two days with the children and staff, and it was a wonderful opportunity to support both the children and the caregivers.
With a dentist on their team and assistance from a nearby dental clinic, 52 children received dental checkups. Some children also had their teeth cleaned or cavities filled. In addition, the dentists provided helpful suggestions regarding many of the children’s dental issues.
Sixteen children with bone development concerns were examined by an orthopedic specialist, who also offered valuable recommendations for their care. Some children had the opportunity to talk with a psychologist from the psychiatry department, including several one-on-one conversations.
The team also provided training for the staff on topics such as A Deep Dive from a Developmental Psychology Perspective, Multidisciplinary Treatment for Children with Cerebral Palsy, and Self-Care for Caregivers led by a psychological therapist.
We are so grateful for the way they served our project with their knowledge, resources, time, and energy. It was a blessing to both the children and the staff to receive their care and support. We deeply appreciate how they walked alongside us, helping to meet the needs of those we serve and sharing their hearts with our community.
