Born in 2013, Huiting is currently a fifth grader. His family faces significant challenges; his father struggles with emphysema, making it difficult for him to walk, while his mother has dealt with a hip issue since childhood, living with constant pain without ever receiving treatment. His sister works in Hohhot.
The family survives on approximately $150 per month in subsistence allowances, and his parents supplement their income by taking on public welfare cleaning jobs in the village.
When we met Huiting, he was shy, offering a gentle smile and a nod. While he may not be very talkative, he has an abundance of “little secrets” that he loves to share with his sister. Her visits home during the holidays bring an extra spark of joy to his eyes.
As the new semester approaches, Huiting will be transitioning from his old elementary school to face new challenges at a different school.
We have faith that he will thrive and flourish in this new chapter of his life.
