Kevin was born on May 21, 2007 and abandoned three months later at the gate of the local orphanage. He was diagnosed with Heterotaxy, a condition in which the location of left‐ and right‐sided structures of the body are confused. The primary problem for these children is their heart malformations. In Kevin’s case, he has a large defect in the center of the heart called a complete atrioventricular canal defect. Kevin’s middle name means “healthy,” which is our wish for him. Kevin is a smart little boy who sits well. He can walk a little, though not too much or he will grow tired due to his weakened heart. He talks quite well and is very observant. When he’s handed little toys, he likes to study them. Kevin lived in a foster family until he came to New Day, and seeing him say goodbye to his foster mother was very difficult. We think that the foundation of love that is already built will carry him through the challenging months ahead!
