Though small in stature due to disease, Long Qin, 7 years old, is physically strong, studies hard, and enjoys playing with other children. He is a lively boy, who is had been in special education school for four years and is currently in rehabilitation due to special needs. With help, Long Qin can ride a bike and play with a scooter. His balance continues to improve and he is able to run and walk without falling. His hardworking attitude has helped him make rapid progress in working with his hands. He is currently working on improving his ability to write with a pen. He is able to work with beads and building blocks with both hands. Long Qin’s awareness of others and the need to take turns has improved. Though he needs help learning to play well with other children, he actively participates in games, helps the teacher and responds happily when praised by his teacher. Long Qin has a basic understanding of color recognition, counting, addition, subtraction and shapes. He recognizes common items and knows how to use those items. His understanding of language is good, however, he continues to need help with expressive language development and speaking in fluent, complete sentences. Long Qin continues to make improvements through education and rehabilitation efforts.
