On February 9, 2006, Philip was born and abandoned at the out-patient clinic of the local traditional Chinese medical hospital. He was sent to the local orphanage, and they determined he had two neurological defects, and one had worsened, to the point that the regional hospital could not help him. We realized his only hope for survival would be to come to New Day Foster Home. On May 13, 2007, Philip joined our family. The doctors in Beijing did not give us much hope for his condition, saying that his condition was so severe that he suffered irreversible brain damage. We pressed forward with the surgery and are thankful to say that he is certainly not brain damaged! He is an active and smart little boy who is determined to learn to walk, a challenge for him due to his other special needs! We are thankful we had the chance to save his life, and we look forward to seeing what his future holds.
