Born in February 2014, Xiao Zhe is now an eleven-year-old third grader. His life took a turn when his parents parted ways when he was just two years old. His father’s job in Hohhot keeps him away, while his mother, who used to keep in touch regularly, has since remarried and started a new family, leaving Xiao Zhe feeling emotionally neglected and longing for her presence.
Currently residing with his grandparents, Xiao Zhe’s family faces financial challenges. His grandfather is still recovering from a recent fracture, and his grandmother works hard in farming to make ends meet. Their main source of income is a monthly welfare benefit of a little over $50 for the elderly couple. This family could greatly benefit from regular visits and assistance to help them navigate through their difficulties and feel supported during these tough times.
