Xiaoqi

Xiaoqi is 8 years old this year and is in the second grade of elementary school. His mother divorced his father after he went to prison. During the school semester Xiaoqi lives at school and his grandfather rides a three wheeled cart to pick him up on weekends. His grandparents are old and sick, they live in poverty- they have only $146 (1,000 yuan) per month from state subsidies. Xiaoqi’s living expenses are about $120, making it difficult for them to survive. Studying in a very small and remote school and living in such circumstances, Xiaoqi is trying his best for a brighter future.
