The first time I encountered Yong Xiang, he appeared frail and weak, sitting motionless in a wheelchair with his gaze fixed on the ground. Holding onto a bag containing his personal items, I knelt and inquired, “Can you manage this on your own?” Without lifting his head, Yong Xiang extended his hand to indicate that he needed assistance. I marveled at his independence and commended him, exclaiming, “Yong Xiang, you’re incredible! You can handle things by yourself.” Upon hearing my words of admiration, Yong Xiang lifted his head and flashed a smile in my direction.
As the days progressed, it became evident that Yong Xiang possessed the ability to stand, albeit with a slight tremor. He could feed himself, although he required guidance on proper eating techniques and posture. His intelligence shone through, and he exhibited a strong determination to excel once shown the way. I hope that since transitioning to the CCU, he will receive the necessary support to improve his nutrition, aid in walking, and enhance his physical strength. My wish is for him to continue acquiring new knowledge and skills in the days ahead.
