Nong

Nong’s earliest memories are those of loss. When he was 4 years old, Nong’s mother left him and his three siblings “to find a better life for herself.” Two years later, his father died of tuberculosis. The four children were then cared for by their elderly grandmother, but unfortunately she also passed away a year later. Left with no family, Nong and with his siblings were sent to the Social Welfare Center of their province when he was 7 years old.
“Now, I want to show my gratitude to all of the staff and brothers and sisters at the center who are helping me go to college like other young people. My dream is to finish my studies and find a good job after graduation. Then I hope to return and help other children who have suffered in difficult situations as I have.”
