We’re so thankful to the volunteer team who invited the children from our Savannah Project to attend a summer camp in Beijing. The kids stayed at a fun and adventurous campsite where they spent several unforgettable days filled with a full schedule of exciting activities—ranging from creative crafts to energetic outdoor games
Many of the crafts were new experiences for the children. They made their own Chinese knots with a single piece of string, and smiles lit up their faces when they wore the finished bracelets on their wrists. It was hard work using a traditional stone grinder to make tofu from soybeans, but they gave it their best effort.
Their eyes widened in amazement when they saw colorful patterns appear just seconds after pressing the print frame onto paper. They also tried pottery, planting small plants in pots, painting their own statues made from molds, and assembling wooden pieces into creative artworks. The kids were curious about every single project and were proud to admire the pieces they made by hand.
In addition, they got to help make cakes and ice cream—another highlight. We loved watching them enjoy every bite of the treats they helped create.
